6% knew a person with epilepsy, and 45.1% saw someone seizing. Only 29.2% gave an exact estimate of the prevalence of the disease. 50.4% were unaware of the causes, 56.1% indicated that epilepsy was IWR-1-endo nmr a psychological/psychiatric disease, 36.5% a form of insanity, and 4.1% an evil spirit possession. Epilepsy was incurable according to 35.5%. Moderate-to-severe restrictions to driving, regular employment, military career, and leisure activities were suggested by 79.8, 57.0, 71.1, and 57.6%. Limitations included marriage and procreation for 46.2 and 38.7%. Knowledge and attitudes varied with education, age and gender. These
findings are partly in keeping with other worldwide reports. (C) 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.”
“In this paper, we present the high selleck inhibitor pressure studies of well known negative thermal expansion material ZrW2O8 on the basis of our density functional theory calculations. We reproduce the experimental alpha and gamma crystal structures of ZrW2O8. We calculate the transition pressure (from alpha to gamma) of this material to be approximate to 26 kbar. Our calculated positional and axial parameters are in an excellent agreement with the available experimental values for the both alpha and gamma phases of this material. Then we study the mechanical properties of this material. We calculate the elastic constants, bulk, shear and Young’s
moduli, Poisson’s ratio, and Debye temperature of alpha-ZrW2O8. In our study, we find that the generalized gradient approximation method fails to obtain the correct values while the local density approximation (LDA) method successfully reproduces the experimental bulk modulus of ZrW2O8. Our calculated values of the shear and Young’s moduli, Poisson’s ratio,
and Debye temperature of alpha-ZrW2O8 with LDA method are also in good agreement with the experimental results. Finally, we predict and analyze the optical properties of this material. c 2011 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3544487]“
“In this study, Alcell lignin was used as filler in aliphatic urethane acrylate ultra violet (UV) curable resin system. The coating system was UV cured in the presence of free radical photoinitiator and cationic photoinitiator. The PR-171 results showed that those with free radical photoinitiator produced coating film with higher degree of curing than those with cationic photoinitiator. The result of iodine number determination also showed that the unsaturated groups present in the UV curable system had reduced. This indicated that radical polymerization had taken place in the curing process of UV curable resin incorporated with lignin. In addition, the lignin content did not influence the curing process of the coating film. As for the coating film, it showed that the mechanical properties of the film were significantly influenced by the lignin content. This phenomenon was contributed by inherent stiffness of the lignin.
